Yes, Shield, I was going to quote those comments from Spags at you when I was reading your first comments. I haven't read that piece carefully, but for once it looks like a fairly good translation of what he actually said - making the most of our central midfielders di corsa and with Taddei short of fitness and form: that, so far as I understood it, was the centre of his comments. It's nice for Brighi to have an occasion to be seriously important and boy he was tonight. He even pulled a little bit of technical shit towards the end of the second half, despite looking absolutely exhausted.

I think fortunes with this team might have changed the minute De Rossi pulled that spin move...if that's not a sign of confidence regained, I don't know what is.

Just one little thing - I thought Frank Lampard tonight confirmed what I've long thought of him: a very fine player and a fine opponent on the pitch. He did some lovely tidy stuff, but when things started going against Chelski, I don't think he made one bad tackle or showed any sign of a lack of discipline while still showing tremendous commitment and leadership. I know the English players get a lot of stick from some here and quite rightly, but I find it hard not to admire Lampard. He's certainly got infinitely more class than Gerrard, if not more talent. I just thought he played like a fine sportsman tonight and the contrast with Deco or with Terry's attempt to butcher Riise was impressive.

maro, i agree with you about lampard. i just saw the the penalty gerrard won for Liverfekkin'wankscum at the end. it will be a disgrace if nobody labels that wanker a diver after such laughable histrionics.
