I seen that last week as well but I just took it as speculation at the time I guess. It is surprising, I have seen a fair few articles in the past praising him as one for the future. Its a shame to lose another youngster. Why did we not offer him a new contract?

In defense to Roma, can the fans give it time?? I know you're all upset and down at the fact Roma has been inadequate for about.....their entire existence but no need to go all crazy for this season. I think if you're truly a fan and followed sports, you wouldn't have expected results this year. What do you guys think?

I actually had to look up the term "trolling". No, Im not trolling. I thought I asked a legit question there and as my only post on the Roma forum in about several months, I don't fit your description of "trolling ". I didnt even find that on dictionary.com. I looked that up in that up on terminologyforsexuallydeprivedindividuals.com.

Douche on the other hand...well, I smell great and spend most of my time in vagina. So yea, being a douche is what I am.

I'm just trying to bust your balls. But in all seriousness you can refer to a years worth of 'project' talk over the last several pages on this thread if youre really interested in finding out what people think. I'm just seeing modest progress with no sign of light at the end of the tunnel. I would have more patience with the so called project if there were more building blocks in place. Right.now we even might even be looking at a coaching change rather than building on a year of solid ground work.

The thing that I can't stand the most about this current team is how as a defensive side we seem to be actually regressing and getting worse. Its clearly been our biggest problem all season and little has been done to try and improve it. The Napoli game was the worst performance of the season defensively in my view. A lot worse than the embarrassing hammerings suffered at Juventus, Lecce, Atalanta, Cagliari, Fiorentina, etc. There were times in the second-half when the defending was so poor and so ridiculously amateurish I gave up all hope and thought we should be in Serie B, never mind the CL. It actually made me seriously consider whether LE works on defending at all in training and instead focuses solely on attacking and possesso paella.

Napoli are a good attacking side and are well set up to play against us and when they stepped it up in the second-half it looked as if they would score at will. We couldn't get tight enough to them and our midfield wasn't doing enough to help out the defence. In the first-half, too, we looked very vulnerable and gave them far too much room. We were appalling defending from set-pieces and had no organising or leadership whatsoever – DDR's absence was clearly felt, but we still shouldn't look so amateurish one player down. It was also frightening how throughout the entire game and in particular the first half hour of the second-half when we were been ripped apart that we had no instruction or advice from the sideline, no effort to try make a change or switch things around. Of course its hard for the management to radically change things then and its not like we had too many options defensively on the bench, but it was a little disconcerting how calm LE and his team were sitting on the bench as if everything were rosy when were been torn apart.

If LE is to stay on and if our management are adamant that he is the right man for the job and believe in his project then that is fine – they're support in him is good to see in a league when changes in management happen far too often, and perhaps with more time to prepare he will improve – but for this system to work dramatic improvements in defence are required. I don't know if that means a radical change of personnel is required in the back-line (and certainly the injuries to Burdisso and Juan have played their part), but even so I'm not sure if LE or our management think we need to bring in a host of new defenders (no defender bought in the winter mercato when it looked the right thing to do; word on the street suggesting we're only interested in one new centre-back in the summer etc.) – all of which leaves me wondering if the problems are more tactical and more down to the system and the players understanding of it. Perhaps with time LE believes as the players get to know the system better we will improve as a team defensively, but if not, and if the problem is with the system itself in that it simply leaves us too vulnerable at the back, I fear LE is not willing to change it and that will prove fatal.

What about the back and fourth between Romanisti, DCG? A lot of Romanisti, such as the clowns above, are just bitchy little nancyboys who dream up all sorts of gay scenarios to satisfy their filthy minds. It really makes for unworthy reading to add to my genius.

I hadn't seen that about Sabatini saying not bringing in another central defender was a mistake. Source? It seems like quite a big mistake to make given Burdisso's long-term injury.

Interesting remarks being made around here about Zeman. And there was banner for him in the Curva the other night. I was talking to a friend at a party last night who had completely forgotten exactly why the Czech wasn't the best manager in the world. "We NEED him," he said.

Only one derby win in four in the league, losses to the likes of Salernitana, Perugia and Venezia. And 98/99 we conceded around the same amount of goals. I've got love for Zeman, but it winds me up that it only takes a few years for the rose-tinted glasses to come out.

I would consider taking Zeman back. I mean, he wouldn't be my first choice should LE decide to depart, but I wouldn't be against him. Like LE, he plays an exciting and attacking brand of football – the main difference being his teams actually score goals. He has done well recently with Pescara and with Foggia before that. It would have been interesting to see what he could have done with the squad of players we have at the moment, they would have suited his tactics rather well (same about Montella I suppose). Plus, on the defensive side, even if Zeman's approach is 'sure we'll score more than we concede', I doubt we'd have been as poor defensively as we have been this season.

I'm not so sure. His Roma team had better forwards, and it had Cafu. He's done well at Pescara and Foggia, fair enough, but I'd reckon LE's Barca B team would beat either of them, so it's not exactly top level stuff. I'll welcome him back to Serie A though.
