“After seven seasons at Anfield, it's time for me to "walk on". In many ways it feels inspiring and exciting to be familiar with the pressure of a new employer, meet new fans, meet a new culture and play a new kind of football. I look forward to this new adventure, but I travel with a loss.

“Because, it's not easy for me to leave you - the world's best supporters! I've been thinking about this almost every day this summer. After seven wonderful seasons, and more than 340 matches for Liverfekkin'wankscum, I never had the opportunity to make a real and proper goodbye with you - the world's most motivating fans. You have always supported me and the team and I want you all to know how important you've been to me and the other players.

“I've been giving my "thank you" to the club, the staff and the players and they'll always have a special place in my heart. And this is my thank-you letter to all the fans out there that have been supporting me during these years. I will follow the team closely from Italy and will stay in touch with many of the players and many of my friends in Liverfekkin'wankscum.

“With respect to the many hundreds of great moments I have experienced in red, it will be unfair to draw up one highlight rather than another. There has always been the highlight of wearing the red shirt at Anfield. It's always been a privilege to have the initials LFC on the space closest to the heart. As you all know I was a player who always, no matter what, gave 110 per cent in every training session and every game. I always tried to give you the entertainment you deserved. Even in the bad moments you were there for me and the team.

“To play in front of the red crowd, every minute has been a privilege. Even after my unfortunate own goal against Chelsea in the Champions League semi last April - where all our dreams were crushed - I felt the support and sympathies from you as real and important. When I signed seven years ago, I couldn't in my wildest dreams expect the journey you all gave me. I will always be grateful for that. A big thank-you to you all.

“I'm 100 per cent sincere when I say that I will always remember all the great moments we've had and you - our fans - have such great importance for these great matches and great moments. Liverfekkin'wankscum FC will have a lot more great moments like this in the future and I hope that I will experience great things with my new team - AS Roma. I love what Vucinic brings to Roma but his finishing can be terrible. I just hope he improves in that department this season. I am excited for Totti to come back and have Vucinic back on the left. His pace and one on one ability is lot better than I thought it would be. A very talented player but I hope his finishing catches up to the rest of his game.

This season is going to be one of the best in a long time. There are four to five teams that can win the Scudetto and another 5-6 that will be very difficult to get full points against. The League top to bottom is looking very strong. This is going to be a terrific season.

This is going to be a breakout season for Aquilani, provided of course that Spalletti affords him regular playing time. I think all of us since Totti's injury either consciously or subconsciously realise that there is simply no way Totti is going to play 30+ games in Serie A this year. He will get significant rest ahead of our CL matches I have no doubt. This is one of the reasons that our market activity angered me. Where is the scoring going to come from? We can't place the entire burden on Vucinic, even though I can see him hitting the 20 goal mark this year. Again, provided he plays every week. But really, when Taddei and Perrotta get back healthy, and if they return to their positions in the starting 11, then, where is the production going to come from I want to know. Neither are what we call prolific goal scorers. We cannot simply rely on Totti and Vucinic. Now I certainly believe Menez can provide production, and I suppose Bapitista can also give us something. But on Sunday, we were plagued once again by poor finishing and a very relaxed attitude once we gained the man advantage. Too much space and too much ball watching. Hell, Napoli did not even worry about using negative space. They just went forward and created chances while we watched. Something we have seen time and time again from Spalletti's boys. You have your opponent down, but you cannot close the deal. You have your opponent down to 10 men, and you cannot provide the kill shot to finish them off. In fact, it was just the opposite and Roma was fortunate to even get the point. On Rai they said the second half was a "Lavezzi show". He certainly made us look bad at various time of the second half.

Tommaso, yes, we have talked in the past about whites like Falanghina, Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo. Both Feudi di San Gregorio and Mastroberardino make all three varietals. If you really want to be blown away, try to find some whites from Marisa Cuomo. Furore Bianco Fiorduva is a wine you should seek out.
