Oh, and ignoring all sorts of arguments about Enrique, I'd sack him simply for having been in charge for several months and failing to get his team defending set-pieces properly.

Absolutely no point in planning anything else if you are consistently going to give away cheap set-piece goals like Roma do.

Time for some boring cliches, now: build from the back, best defence win the scudetto, etc., etc..

Class, as always, from the main man himself. It would be a shame if LE were to leave, for whatever reasons, but having Spalletti back would be something special.

Luciano Spalletti respinge le voci di un suo ritorno sulla panchina giallorossa. «Ero quello che l'ha disturbata - ha detto a Sky il tecnico dello Zenit San Pietroburgo - Sono stato bersaglio dei tiratori scelti, fino al punto di essere impallinato, di dover lasciare. I remember months ago, di benedetto said he would go to serie b and still keep LE.The guy holds high value in the management.


As for defending set pieces, it got to do with the height of the team which is very short. Barca also suffer on set pieces.

I don't think anyone is suggesting LE will be fired. That has never been the issue. The society will back him. The big issue is if he will resign, if he will walk away because he either loses the dressing-room and the faith of the players, or the pressure from the tifosi and the city becomes too much. This is Roma, it is unlike anywhere else in the world. No matter how much support he gets from the society and the players and his peers, if the tifosi turn against him, he is gone. He has openly said he will walk away if he ever feels he is not wanted, and if things continue down this path then he may well have to live up to that word.

No one wants to see him fail. The pressure upon him is immense. Not only because this is Roma but because he is trying to implement a new philosophy and a new way of thinking to a country where change is not easily accepted. He needs time to do that, perhaps a full season, but is unclear on if he'll get that. I also think its audacious to presume LE will be a great tactician. Faith is one thing, and he needs time to develop his football philosophy, but coming from a Barca-background in the shadow of Guardiola doesn't automatically mean he is destined for greatness no matter what. He deserves respect for what he is trying to do and he should be given faith, but his philosophy of football is not something which is easily achieved and no guarantee for greatness.
