Training for tomorrows game (18:00 CET). De Rossi returned to training today after a day of rest and is expected to start. Steakburger, despite returning to training earlier in the week, may not be risked and so Lobont may continue between the sticks, with a last minute decision by LE. Perrotta (ankle) and Gago (thigh) are still injured – Simplicio also got a knock to the ankle but should be alright – so Pizza will play at midfield alongside DDR and Pjanic, and its between Borini and Bojan for upfront, with the latter the more likely to start. Viviani also trained with the senior squad as a precaution. Lamela is making steady progress and says his ankle is much better, although he's still training separately for the most part and is expected to be ready for the Derby at the earliest. Juan is training regularly (partnered of Juan with Kjaer, so were Burdisso and Heinze) but is still not at full fitness for LE's liking and so won't be considered, even if he thinks he's ready.

Secondo quanto anticipato da Angelo Mangiante di Sky Sport, Luis Enrique a sorpresa schiererà titolare Fabio Simplicio, lasciando in panchina David Pizarro. Vengono dunque confermate le indiscrezioni di un paio d'ore fa, che vedevano il brasiliano inserito nella probabile formazione. A meno di un'ora dal fischio d'inizio, la scelta dell'asturiano è official.

Good result from Roma, but with Colantuono saying he approached the game intending to attack, and LE saying we got to play the way he intended, I see teams using the bus strategy. After all, the bus strategy has worked against us and not allowed us to play the way LE wants. (I think there's still work to be done, anyway)

It certainly didn't help against Cagliari, but this style was new for Roma. Time will tell how this will work against other bus parking teams. My suspicion is that it will aid Roma in passing the ball around, but passes will lead to nowhere unless someone runs into space.

Brutta sorpresa per Francesco Totti, che questa mattina si è svegliato con un dolore alla coscia destra. Come riferisce il sito ufficiale dell'As Roma, il Capitano ha dovuto sottoporsi ad una risonanza che ha evidenziato una lesione muscolare. Lo staff medico giallorosso, in queste due settimane di pausa, farà di tutto per recuperare il numero 10, ma la sua presenza nel Derby del 16 sera si fa sempre meno probabile.
