Still all sorts of conflicting reports of the starting 11 tomorrow but its looking like:

Stekelenburg; Cassetti, Burdisso, Kjaer, Josè Angel; Pjanic, De Rossi, Perrotta; Osvaldo, Totti, Bojan.

Although Il Romanista suggested that Taddei could start at right-full with Cassettti in the middle in place of Kjaer.

I was talking about this with Giovanni in the SB during the week, and says we could have a new stadio in four years, and suggests the following locations could be considered: Massimina, Tor di Valle, Bufalotta, Tor Vergata and Guidonia.

I've read that about ste stadium before, Ed, but honestly they don't seem to know where the fuck they'd put it. All of those options, except perhaps Tor di Valle and Bufalotta, would be terrible because they're miles and miles away.

Tor Vergata towards the end of the new C-line metro, which will connect at San Giovanni to the red metro. That'd be, I guess, close to an hour's journey just on the metro for anyone staying the centre (based on the fact that the centre to the southern end of the shorter A line is roughly 45 minutes). Or you could leave the day before and get the Giardinetti tram

Guidonia is around 40km away from the city.

Massimina, the site that gets mentioned a lot, is almost at Fiumicino, on a huge motor way.

Tor di Valle would be ok. It's got a train station and is just south of EUR, the financial district with the square colosseum. There's a lot of buses, good roads and a metro close by too. Bufalotta is in Monte Sacro, a suburb in the north which is nice and will soon have a metro.

Massimina is where they had planned for the 'Stadio Sensi', wozn't it? Pity Rosella got so rudely ousted before she got a chance to dawn her hard hat and get mixing the mortar for that. Its a pity that most of the options are so far out or remote. Building this stadio is going to be very difficult. There's going to be all sorts of objections, infrastructure and transport issues, and lets not forget the discovery of old ruins of some sort. Surely there are some good, local locations – such as that Villa Borghese, thats a grand big space and sure there's nothing important there.

maro has suggested just getting rid of the Colosseum. You could make a lot of parking space where the Forum is, too, just get rid of the ruins and do some landscaping and it would be perfect.

Massimina was the site mentioned for the Sensi job, you are correct. I think that the city should be clever about it all and get it passed in a run-down area. For instance, there are large swathes of Testaccio that could do with a facelift. Tor di Valle is not so far from here.

Fun fact fans will know that Testaccio was the site of Roma's first ground, the Campo Testaccio, and also the neighbourhood in which Claudio Ranieri grew up.

I really hope they find a site in the city proper. Growing up in Dublin you took Croke Park and Lansdowne Rd for granted, but now I know that there's no comparison between a city centre stadium and one in the outer reaches.

"Growing up in Dublin..." jasus, you'd swear you're a weary and wise old world traveller. Take it easy there sonny. Yes, a city centre stadio has a lot of benefits, but it will be quite hard to pull off in Rome. Testaccio would be a great location alright.

LE: I convocati il daremo domenica mattina. I ragazzi sono tutti a disposizione e si presenteranno tutti domani mattina qui al Bernardini: poi sarò costretto a lasciarne quattro a Trigoria. I giocatori Viviani, Caprari e Verre giocheranno invece con la Primavera: per loro è importante scendere in campo con regularità.

So, he's not announcing the team until tomorrow. I had to painstakingly type this out so there may be typos, because the stupid Roma site uses flash and won't let me copy and paste it. Definitely no Caprari or Viviani tomorrow. Juan will also not be called up as he's not fit yet.

Grazie, Lupa. Yeh its very annoying that you can't copy shit from that Roma website. You would think this new management would get a decent official website sorted out. Our old management had a super site in place and new this new management had to go and feck it all up.

I read elsewhere earlier that Viviani, Caprari and Verre were being sent back to be part of the Primavera set-up so they could get as much game time as possible, but hopefully we'll see them all get a chance in the first team soon (although with the sheer size of the squad its hard to see). Is Juan definitely out? I read he might make the list of players even if he doesn't start. Cici and Greco will defo be out. Cagliari's i convocati.

Thanks for the link, Shield. Further down in LE's conference he talks about specific players, and he mentions that Juan has only been training with the team for a week. I understood that he was saying Juan wouldn't play, but I could be wrong, with my dodgy Italian.

Maybe Bruno will take his son out tonight and get him really drunk. That way, if he's tired enough, maybe he won't score against us, and Burdisso won't bulldoze him.

Yeah he probably won't play alright, looks like Kjaer will partner Burdisso. Not that Kjaer has had much training or time to get used to the system – which LE has stressed a few times of all our new players – so there are some reports saying that Cassetti could even start in the middle with Rosi at right-full. Similarly, with Gago, its thought he may only make the bench as he hasn't had too much time with us. Its not very ideal that the team isn't quite settled and LE apparently doesn't seem to know what his best 11 is (and that he has to hold back i convocati), but ha, just imagine what it would have been like if there hadn't of been a strike and matchday 1 went ahead?

Yeh, Daniele Conti always seems to hurt us. Mind you, I wonder if he'll be out for a bit of revenge against Burdisso for what he done to him in the last game. Burdisso may be targeted, and it doesn't take much for him to do something stupid.

I think in Juan's case, he's only been training with the team for a week *and* has been injured, while Kjaer hasn't been training much with the team, but at least he's been healthy. Someone on the offside said that Bojan had the flu, although I haven't seen that mentioned elsewhere. Perhaps that's why I saw somewhere that Borriello may get a surprise start. I can't recall where I saw it, so no idea whether it was a reliable 'source' or just someone's wishful thinking.

Expecting 45,000-50,000 for todays game. 17,000 season ticket holders and 23,000 tickets sold, with both Curva's sold out. The Sensi family will be there, but Di Benedetto and his entourage will not as they're at home in the US.
