Well, moldy-knee, I'm sure many here think there's plenty of sense in it. It's one of the persistent cries against Pizarro - that because of his limitations, an enormous defensive responsibility falls on DDR's shoulders which takes away from other aspects of his game. Alongside someone defensively better, he could get up and down more, scoring more goals, making more runs into the box, rather than being chained in in front of the back four. And there's surely some sense in that (my only complaint is that it slightly misunderstands the kinds of defensive work a player like Pizza or Pirlo do). Certainly, I can't see Ambro not being picked alongside DDR tonight, in part to free him up to play as a regista a bit more and so to take some of the defensive load off his shoulders. I would guess that if Aquilani plays, it'll be instead of Camoranesi rather than instead of Ambrosini, as it were. I would expect it to be a 4-3-1-2 again, of some kind, with Perrotta in behind the front two. If Aquilani doesn't play, then Perrotta will fill in as the third along the midfield, allowing Camoranesi or Di Natale to come in (depending on whether it's 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2; if the former, then both might come in and Cassano would be sat again). Still, I suspect the guy who wrote that needs to pay a bit more attention to the kinds of dirty defensive work Simone gets involved in, no matter where he starts on the pitch.
