Is Okaka technically really awful? Does anyone play the up-to-date Championship Manager games? What's the sense they give of his technical qualities? It's surely the only explanation for his exclusion from the ritiro. You'd have thought he might at least have a chance of a squad role in this 4-3-3 - he feels a less unnatural fit down the inside-right than Borriello does, after all.

Okaka is likely to leave, too, I think. He doesn't have the technical skills required for a LE team. It just depends now on if we sell him outright this time, but hopefully not. It will leave us even shorter of options upfront then we now are. Not to mention being ridiculously short at the back. This mercato still has a lot of work to do to make us competitive.

Roma have completed the signing of Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, the Italian club have announced.

The Netherlands international has penned a €2,7million-a-year contract until the summer of 2015 after the two clubs concurred on a €6.3 m fee.

The deal will see Ajax receive €1m in case Roma subsequently sell the player or offer him a contraxt extension, and €500,000 for every time the Italian side reach the Champions League from the 2012/13 season to 2015/16.

Stekelenburg is set to become Roma's custodian as new coach Luis Enrique looks to put his stamp on his recently inherited side.

The Dutch keeper, who has 40 international caps for the Netherlands to his name, will now join his second ever club, after making 282 appearances for Ajax over the last nine years.
