I am just reading that Marseille has made an offer to Roma for Menez, 8 millions. They are crazy...pay 8 millions when we paid 12 one year ago. Pfff....

The guy has not impressed and even disappointed at times but i do not imagine we could loose money on him only one year after he joined.

We smoked 'em 3-zip, playing a 4-4-2 with which Spags wasn't especially happy. One of the questions he was asked was especially interesting - that it looked at times as though the set-up fell into two parts, attacking with four and defending with six. I suspect we'll see a bit more of that this season - it's Spags's solution to our getting exposed on the counter last season - and I hate it. It'll make us more compact but I fear at the expense of making us unwatchably stodgy at times. He also said that he thinks Aquilani is a very good player but, in the long run, if he needs to be sold so we can secure this really nice wallet he saw on the Ponte Vecchio over the summer break then so bet it. He also said Simone Palermo and all his family are homosocial.

I was looking for something on Cruz too but only saw this bit from earlier today, based on a story from Il Messaggero saying we would offer him a one-year deal with an option for a second (I think), but he wants a two-year contract. Deini, where did you see we're offering him 2 million per year? What a complete waste he will turn out to be, a complete waste of money. Okaka could do a better job than him as back-up striker.

Ah, okay. Thanks, Avvocato. I guess it depends almost entirely on how much of his quality Cruz retains. If Spags is looking in the 4-2-4 to get his profondita' from the wide boys then it makes Cruz's age and lack of pace less of an issue and he can certainly finish and play with his back to goal. Personally, I'd rather go with Okaka; if he doesn't come good, so be it. And I think I'd rather go with Andreolli as third CB too, though I see the sense in what Fonz was arguing last week, and having Faty in the mix as some kind of cover there or for DDR in the middle appeals too. Again it might not work, but give the boy a chance.
