cassetti has argueably been the best rb in serie a this season and deserves consideration as the possible 8th.

cannavaro, materazzi, chiellini, barzagli, grosso, zambrotta, panucci and cassetti. panucci and cassetti have proven to be versatile playing all three positions on the back line this year so they can provide coverage where needed. tonetto may also have an outside chance for consideration because he's one of few natural left-footers available.

Italy Squad – Inzaghi Out, The Waterboy, Toldo & Chiellini In

The Corriere dello Sport has today claimed to know the 23 men that Italy coach Roberto Donadoni will select for Euro 2008.

Donadoni’s three goalkeepers will be Gianluigi Buffon, Marco Amelia, and Inter veteran Francesco Toldo, who has been heavily linked in the press with travelling as the third goalkeeper.

Donadoni will opt for eight defenders, where there are few real surprises. Massimo Oddo and Marco Materazzi are both trusted despite their respective lack of fitness and form. Giorgio Chiellini has also been tipped to get the nod as a utility player, who can play at centre back, full back, or even in an emergency midfield role.

As for the natural midfield positions, the Milan trio of Gattuso, Pirlo and Ambrosini and Roma duo of Daniele De Rossi and Simone Perrotta are no-brainers, as is Juventus’ Mauro Camoranesi.

The only doubt on the part of the Corriere regards whether Alberto Aquilani or Riccardo Montolivo is chosen. The former has struggled recently, while the latter has been in wonderful form, despite labouring earlier in the campaign.

Finally up-front, the newspaper believes there will be no place for Pippo Inzaghi, despite being the most in-form striker in Serie A, having hit nine goals in his last five matches. Marco Borriello will be Luca Toni’s understudy, with Alessandro The Waterboy and Udinese duo Antonio Di Natale and Fabio Quagliarella taking the other two slots.

If that dunderhead Donadoni leaves Cassano home then we deserve to lose. We all know Cassano is fucked in the head, but he has always had a good attitude when it came to the Azzurri and he comes to play every game. I just don't know how you can leave arguably the most skilled Italian player home in this situation. And for what, so that fucking Waterboy can sit on the bench and play cheerleader. This is a bloody joke.

I don't see the need to bring Borriello and Rocchi, 2 players who are exactly like Toni. You need creative subs like tender Alex but maybe Cassano is not going because Don has his heart set on Borriello who scored a whopping 14 goals this season and 5 came from PKs. Rocchi??? You got to be kidding me. You just don't leave the Capo home, that is just ridiculous. I wouldn't say he is a prolific goal scorer seeing as we've seen 25+ goals in the past decade or so but he deserves to be ahead of the other 2 goons.
