Parolo extends Cesena contract

Marco Parolo has officially extended his contract with Cesena to 2015, but “could be sold if there is a very important offer.”

The winger has been linked with sides like Lazio, Genoa and Cagliari this summer after making a big impact on Serie A last season.

Cesena released a statement this evening confirming he had signed on until June 30, 2015, but is still on the market.

“This is another important element for Cesena, but above all a decision based on reciprocal desire from both sides to reach this agreement,” wrote President Igor Campedelli.

“This multi-year extension was a prize in recognition of Parolo’s professional attitude he has always shown towards Cesena, even when frenetic transfer gossip was whirling round.”

However, Campedelli confirmed this does not mean Parolo is necessarily staying.

“Parolo’s sale will only be taken into serious consideration if there is a very important offer.”

Bottom of the table Cesena have a new Coach after Daniele Arrigoni signed a short-term deal until June 2012.

Cesena were looking for a tactician after they decided to sack Marco Giampaolo following the 2-0 loss at Parma.

Cesena had initially contacted Davide Ballardini and Gigi De Canio, but both men turned down the opportunity to take charge of the Seahorses.

Arrigoni, 52, was actually born in Cesena and appeared for the club as a player during the early 1980s.

The former Torino, Cagliari and Livorno boss hasn’t worked since he was sacked by Sassuolo back in October 2010.

He was also being linked with the Lecce job should the Giallorossi opt to part company with Eusebio De Francesco.

He'll do well to keep them up. But at least he's been given plenty of time to turn it around.

Cesena are looking for their third Coach of the season after they decided to sack Daniele Arrigoni.

The latter was only appointed in November to replace Marco Giampaolo, but he has failed to revive the Seahorses.

The Stadio Manuzzi outfit are now bottom of the table following Novara’s recent revival and seven points adrift of safety.

They lost 3-1 at home to Milan on Sunday which means they have now collected just one point from the last 15 available.

It seems that Mario Beretta, formerly of Torino and Siena, is in pole position to replace Arrigoni at Cesena.

However, Gigi De Canio, Giuseppe Papadopulo, Luigi Apolloni and Giancarlo Camolese have all been linked too.

There are even suggestions that Giampaolo could be recalled.

Edit: Mario Beretta has been appointed as manager.
