Viola land Jovetic coup - Montenegrin starlet opts for move to Serie A

Fiorentina have pulled off a transfer coup after winning the battle for Montenegrin starlet Stevan Jovetic.

The teenage forward has been interesting Real Madrid and Manchester United, with previous reports claiming the Premiershit champions were willing to spend £7million on Jovetic.

However, Fiorentina have confirmed that the 18-year-old has accepted a move to the club from Partizan Belgrade, with the fee rumoured to be in the region of 8million euros (£6.3m).

Jovetic is already a full international with Montenegro and is the captain of the country's Under 21 side.

Viola coach Cesare Prandelli has been lining up a deal for the highly-rated attacker for several weeks and has now clinched his signature.

The swoop for Jovetic follows on from the capture of Alberto Gilardino, who joined the UEFA Champions League qualifiers from Milan earlier in the week.

Gamberini Not Moving To Bayern – Agent

The agent of Fiorentina defender Alessandro Gamberini has rubbished talk that his client could be set for a summer move to Bayern Munich.

Gamberini was one of the best defenders in Serie A last season, and his impressive performances played a big role in the Viola finishing fourth and qualifying for the Champions League.

German giants Bayern Munich are well known to be in the market for a centre back, and there have been reports that they are considering making a move for Gamberini.

However the 26-year-old’s agent has rubbished these rumours.

“I can say that there has been no contact with Bayern and I actually heard the rumour from you for the first time,â€

Samp Table Bid For Pazzini

Sampdoria have made a €6m co-ownership bid for Fiorentina forward Giampaolo Pazzini, according to Secolo XIX.

Pazzini was regarded as one of Italy’s best young strikers, however his career has stagnated somewhat following a disappointing 2007/08 season.

Fiorentina have just recently signed Alberto Gilardino from Milan, and with Adrian Mutu and Pablo Osvaldo also in the squad, coach Cesare Prandelli is willing to let Pazzini leave.

Sampdoria recently sold Christian Maggio to Napoli for €8m, and they are keen to immediately spend this money on a centre forward.

Secolo XIX says that the Blucerchiati have tabled a €6m co-ownership bid for Pazzini, and the odds are that the offer will be successful.

Pazzini joined Fiorentina from Atalanta in 2005, and has since scored 24 goals in 96 appearances.

The 23-year-old also scored the first goal at the new Wembley Stadium when hitting a hat-trick for the Italy Under-21s in a 3-3 draw against England in 2007.

Prandelli: Inter & Juve Favourites

Fiorentina Coach Cesare Prandelli claims that Inter and Juventus are the two favourites for next season’s Scudetto, while he also explained his intentions to make the Viola the team of the neutrals.

Fiorentina have confirmed the signature of Brazilian prodigy Jefferson from Brazilian minnows Parana Clube. The move had been on the cards for the last month, but the paperwork was completed today and the 20-year-old has become the Viola’s sixth addition of the summer.

Fiorentina have lined up a prestigious pre-season friendly against Barcelona at the end of the month. The Viola are looking forward to Champions League football this term after Coach Cesare Prandelli [pictured] led them to fourth-place last season. And the Tuscans are planning to take on the 2005-06 Champions League winners at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on July 30.

The friendly will be a charity event with money donated to the Artemio Franchi Foundation, the FC Barcelona Fund and the Fiorentina Onlus Foundation – a newly established organisation that gives money to the city of Florence and its works. The fans will be eager to see the Gigliati’s new signings, including former Milan hitman Alberto Gilardino, in the Viola shirt for the first time.
